Rating: All Ages/G
Pairing: Nick Stokes/Greg Sanders
Challenge: The Happy Domestic Challenge at the Nick and Greg LiveJournal community.
Author's Note: Title shamelessly stolen from Dante Gabriel Rossetti's "Love's Nocturn".
He came awake slowly, inhabiting both the land of dreams and the world of reality. Muzzy thoughts skittered here and there in his mind as consciousness slowly inched its way towards him.
//Am I hungry?//The sky's pretty in this dream, look at the clouds.//Mmm, Greg's next to me, smells so good.//
Eyes still closed, Nick breathed deeply, inhaling the many-layered scents of Greg's various hair products, his warm, clean skin, and the coffee Greg had irrationally insisted on drinking before they went to bed. He let out the breath, and curled closer to Greg's warm body.
It was too early to get up, but Nick liked to watch Greg sleep, to see Greg's face free of worry or stress, to know that he was off frolicking in a universe of imagination rather than trapped in the cruel reality of constant murder and mayhem.
Nick would stroke Greg's face softly, so as not to wake him, and murmur that he loved him. Sometimes Greg would shift in his sleep, sometimes he was still as stone. Now, though, Greg was half awake, and he kissed Nick's fingers, whispering, "I love you, too," in a sleep-roughened voice.
Nick sighed softly and wrapped his arms around Greg, pulling him close, then drifted back into hazy dreams of Greg and the future and love.
